Dear Visitor,

Lynck provides you the opportunity to make your very own home page - within minutes!

The following page will provide you an overview of the steps necessary to make your own home page. In only 5 easy steps you can make a home page which consists of elements you choose, without any clutter or intusive advertising.

Step 1: Registering
The first step is to register yourself as a member of Lynck. This is very easy, and you do not have to provide much information: only a login name and password, and your e-mail address are required. To register, you can click here, or by clicking on the register button on the top right of the home page of Lynck. After you've registered yourself, you have to login for the first time. Finally, you will have to go the your settings page, to set up the elements of your home page.

Step 2: Elements
After you clicked on the settings button on the top right of your (currently empty) home page, you will see your personal settings page. Basically it consists of several elements. First you have to pick your favorite search engine. A search engine allows you to easily search for external information. If you are not sure which engine to choose, it's best to keep Google (which is set as the standard engine).

In the second element, you are able to put your favorite links. Surely you will have used the favorites list in your web browser. However, any experienced internet surfer will notice that this list of favorites gets quite full and cluttered after a while. Therefore, the second element of Lynck provides you the opportunity to put those links on your main page which you use the most. For example

http://www.yourforum.com
http://www.mypictures.com/username/album/
www.lynck.com
my.bankaccount.mybank.com/loginscreen/~inlog-applet

You may provide each link a specific name tag, however, it is not necessary: Lynck will automatically create a name tag for you, based on the web address.

The third element is even more easy. Just browse through the comprehensive list of news feeds (so-called RSS feeds), and pick the ones which you like best. Be sure to check the list once in a while, for there might be new, interesting feeds available. You can choose up to 6 feeds for one home page. If you just want two feeds, just leave the other boxes blank (none).

TIP: When you choose a news feed twice, you will not get the same information twice - instead, Lynck recognizes this and will provide 2 times 7 different news feed lines, thus creating a list of 14 headlines (where available).

As a fourth element, you may choose for a standard Quicksearch. Quicksearch encompasses a quick link to several websites where searching is an importnt element. For instance, Quicksearch has a link to the Internet Movie Database (IMDB.com): you can instantly access the database via the Quicksearch box on your website. In the settings page, you may choose one of the Quicksearches which you will use most often. The chosen setting will become the standard setting of the Quicksearch box. Ofcourse, all other Quicksearch options will still be available as well (via the drop down menu in the Quicksearch box).

Step 3: Saving the settings
You've made it so far... All you have to do is save your adjustments to your own home page. Just click "Apply changes" at the bottom of your settings page, and you're done! You will be taken to your home page immediately.

Step 4: Making your home page the default home page
All that has to be done, is to let your browser know which default home page you want to have (so that every time you open your browser, you will be taken to your Lynck home page). There are several types of browsers.

Internet Explorer: Set Lynck as your home page now!
Firefox: Click on Extra -> Options -> General -> Home Page, and type the default address of Lynck: www.lynck.eu
