About Lynck

Dear visitor,

Welcome to Lynck! We provide you the possiblity to make your own homepage within minutes.

Lynck makes it easy to choose: just pick your favorite search engine, save your favorite links and choose your favorite newsfeeds. These will serve as the building blocks of your own homepage. To view some examples of how such a personalized page might look like, click on one of the subcategories above.

Why Lynck? First of all, Lynck is totally independent. This means that 'the world's largest search engine' does not control what is put on your own homepage: we let you choose which search engine you want to use. Second, Lynck has a very clean look and feel: no clutter, and no flashy advertisements. One small banner on your home page (text-only) serves to cover Lynck's overhead costs. Yes, Lynck is free!

Ofcourse one could choose to make use of our 'pre-programmed' pages which are situatied at the top of each home page, each covering a certain topic. However, it is much more convenient to make your own page. You could make your own page with links and news useful to yourself, or share your very own page with your friends and family. Having trouble to organize all those bookmarks in your browser? Just put the links you use the most in Lynck, it makes surfing go much faster. Good examples are a link of your favorite forum, your mailbox or your work/studies. Not sure what is important? Pick a few pre-defined links, provided on the right side of your settings page.

Next to links, you could choose to put a couple so-called RSS feeds (up to 6) from our comprehensive list of feeds. In your settings page, choose feeds from websites or weblogs, conveniently arranged in categories. Only interested in national news? Choose a national news feed. Or is technology one of your interests? Just pick your favorite techsite's feed.

Here comes the best bit of Lynck: it is FAST! First of all, once you put Lynck as your home page and are logged in, you will continue to be logged in, without having to provide your password again (provided that you do not delete your cookies). Second, Lynck provides feeds that are 'captured' every 15 minutes and put on Lynck's server. This means that the information is immediately available, and makes Lynk load very fast.

In short: the idea behind Lynck is to provide a clean, fast homepage, which does not have all kinds of unnecessary features, but still could be persnalized enough to fit each type of user.

Registering only takes 1 minute: all we need is an e-mail address, and a login/password of your choosing. Please note that Lynck does not provide any information (including your email, or your settings) to third parties.
